An experienced attorney protecting your rights

Steven E. Zlochiver, Principal

Steven Zlochiver, the founder of Zlochiver & Associates, has been practicing family law in central and eastern Massachusetts for more than 20 years. In addition to handling family law cases for wealthier clients, he is a former Legal Aid attorney, and has worked with clients of limited income on all types of family law issues.

A Massachusetts native, Attorney Zlochiver currently resides in Middlesex County. His undergraduate degree is from the University of Massachusetts, where he majored in Political Science and graduated magna cum laude. He received his law degree from the University of New Hampshire School of Law. He has been a member of the bar, and in good standing, since 1988 and is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association.

Attorney Zlochiver’s first job as a lawyer was as a litigator at Legal Assistance Corporation of Central Massachusetts in Worcester where he worked for 13 years. While there, he initially practiced in the areas of Disability, Education, Mental Health and Domestic Relations law, but then limited his practice to Domestic Relations law for his final 11 years there—representing both male and female victims of domestic violence in contested custody cases. In 2002, he entered private practice and located his office in Middlesex County, although he practices in many other counties, as well.

Since entering private practice in 2002, Attorney Zlochiver has been involved with the Honorable Harry Zarrow Homeless Advocacy Project through which, as a volunteer, he takes pro bono custody, visitation, and child support cases.

Attorney Zlochiver has successfully negotiated many settlement agreements over the years, as the vast majority of cases in the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court end up being settled before trial, whether the issues are primarily about property, support, or custody. In addition, he has achieved excellent results in trials and appeals. Examples of his reported appellate cases are Mannor v. Mannor, 46 Mass. App. Ct. 46 (1998) and Brown v. Chater, 927 F.Supp.10 (1996).

Attorney Zlochiver has participated as a panel member for the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education “Child Support and Alimony Primer” seminar.

Attorney Zlochiver’s associates are independent contractors who have many years of experience practicing law primarily in Massachusetts Probate and Family Court in many counties, including Middlesex County. In addition to being an attorney for 16 years, one associate also has had 17 years experience as a mental health counselor. Additionally, she speaks Spanish and has extensive experience in Guardianship cases. She is based in Middlesex County. Another associate has 26 years of experience focusing on property, support, and custody matters in Probate and Family Court, and, while based in Bristol and Suffolk counties, he also has a busy practice in Middlesex County.

Whatever your family issue, whatever your income, the family law attorneys of Zlochiver & Associates will aggressively protect your rights and the future well-being of your family.
